KWS is one of the world’s leading plant breeding companies. Over 5,000 employees in more than 70 countries generated net sales of around €1.5 billion in the fiscal year 2021/2022. A company with a tradition of family ownership, KWS has operated independently for 165 years. It focuses on plant breeding and the production and sale of seed for corn, sugarbeet, cereals, vegetables, oilseed rape and sunflower. KWS uses leading-edge plant breeding methods to continuously improve yield for farmers and plants’ resistance to diseases, pests and abiotic stress. To that end, the company invested more than €285 million last fiscal year in research and development.
In response to the increasing complexities within our business, KWS SAAT, the parent company of KWS Group, was looking to digitize and optimize the contracting and billing process for seed multiplication. The GINCO (Grower Invoicing and Contracting)-Project aimed to centralize the documentation and administration of our core activities: seed multiplication, connecting procurement, production, finance, controlling, and legal functions.
Together with our implementation partner Alight, we created an innovative solution that meets our demand to flexibly adapt to different needs in the individual countries and markets and automatically manage specific calculations based on these parameters.
The technical implementation leverages the power of SAP Cloud, dox42 Online with Microsoft Azure, and DocuSign, seamlessly integrating these technologies to create a fully customized automation solution for our processes.
Thanks to the dedication of the GINCO-Project team and all involved parties, we have developed a future-proof solution for one of our core processes in an agile and collaborative manner. Close coordination with our specialist divisions ensured that the implementation became a central and essential component of our application landscape.
