The EGGER Group, headquartered in St. Johann in Tirol, is one of the world’s leading woodbased material manufacturers. Founded in 1961, this family-owned company operates 22 production sites across 11 countries and employs over 11,000 people. Its main customers include the furniture industry, wood distribution, building markets and the DIY business.
In the manufacturing process, various products and purchased materials are tested for quality. The results of these tests are compiled into inspection lots and documented in SAP. To create and archive these inspection reports, we use dox42 to generate forms from SAP data.
The process starts with the receipt of a pre-prepared Word form from the relevant department. In this form, result fields are replaced with dox42 data fields that directly extract values from multiple SAP tables through queries. Manual data entry by users is not required, as all relevant information is automatically retrieved from SAP and other data sources.
Text blocks and headings in the form are also replaced with data fields. This allows for multilingual output of the forms without the need to create separate forms for each language. Translations are pulled from a manually created Excel file, which enables the printing of inspection reports in any desired language.
Additionally, graphs are created and integrated into the forms. Data from SAP is transferred to Excel via dox42, where the graphs are generated. The Word form accesses these graphs, reads them, and embeds them into the document.
dox42-SAP queries for form generation are performed in the background by a specially designated SAP user who has access to the necessary tables. The credentials of this user are protected by crypto encryption within dox42.
Thanks to dox42, we can efficiently create complex and standardized forms based on the department’s templates as part of our project, which involves replacing an existing subsystem for material testing with an internally developed SAP system. This significantly reduces our reliance on developer resources and greatly simplifies form printing.
